Matt Hanisch

Editor & Occasional Writer/Director

Based in Los Angeles, California

Matt Hanisch is a dedicated, enthusiastic, and driven graduate of the University of Southern California’s Film and TV Production program pursuing a career in post-production. Born in Oklahoma and based in Los Angeles, Matt’s journey through the industry has taken him from the West Coast to the Great Plains and back.

Matt started his career as a West Coast Page at NBCUniversal and flew back home to Tulsa almost immediately after completing the program to work on Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon.

Since then, Matt has worked on Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans and several other feature films for Amblin Partners and Netflix, working under editors like Fred Raskin, Sabrina Plisco, and Christian Wagner. As an assistant editor, Matt has worked on projects for NBCSN and Google, including the Telly-Award-Winning “Veterans’ Voices.” As an editor, Matt is best known for the short film "Seniors," which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Whether he’s on set or in the cutting room, Matt brings a calm, level-headed presence to every project he works on. He hopes to work someday as a feature film editor, and his work as an editor on short films, music videos, and documentaries has been selected for various festivals, including Sundance Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, the PlayHouse West Film Festival, BLASTOFF, and San Diego Film Week, and featured on EWTN, Now This, and the St. Jude Children's Hospital official Facebook page.
